Township, Fire Company sign historic agreement

Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors has approved a new two-year agreement with the Fire Company which has been characterized as the most significant new arrangement since the Township acquired the Fire Company’s assets in 1982. The agreement continues the Township’s funding for operations, maintenance, buildings and facilities, leaving Fire Company members to allocate their full energies to training, firefighting, fire prevention education and related emergency service activities. Under its terms, David Gallagher, the Township’s new Director of Fire and Emergency Services, assumes the responsibility of Chief Operating Officer for the Fire Company under the guidance of the Fire Company’s Board of Directors, with a focus on implementing its 2016 strategic plan. The agreement also establishes Standard of Response Coverage service benchmarks. Terms of the agreement can be extended an additional three years unless either party withdraws.
