Shopping centers will never be the same

In the future, if a new zoning ordinance amendment before Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors is approved, shopping centers in Cranberry will look more like Streets of Cranberry than the strip centers of last century. At its September 28 meeting, the Board accepted public testimony on revisions to the current code which would focus on building placement in relation to streets, other buildings, pedestrian ways and parking lots to make all the elements fit together. On-street parking would be encouraged along interior roadways as would enhanced green space including parks, plazas, and pedestrian pockets – even an optional pet pocket. Following the testimony, the Board agreed to continue public hearings on the amendment at its October 26 meeting.
