New bus service added to Pittsburgh

Commuters to Pittsburgh now have a new transit option. Starting October 1, the Butler Transit Authority began offering express coach service from the Park ‘n Ride lot on Rt. 528 near the Evans City entrance to I-79 through to the North Shore T-station, where riders can transfer for free to various downtown stops. The bus ride takes 40 minutes for a cash fare of $5; multi-trip passes are available for a cost of $4 each way. Token Transit, a phone app for mobile ticketing, is honored by the system and available for Android and iPhones. Connect Cards, which are honored by Port Authority as well as BTA, are also available. Weekday morning departures from the Park ‘n Ride lot are at 5:50, 6:50, and 7:20. Two afternoon return trips from the North Shore T-Station – one at 4:00 and one at 5:00 – are also offered.
