Vogel Disposal Services was selected as the Township’s waste contractor when Cranberry’s Collection Connection program initially went into effect in November of 2004. At the conclusion of its five year agreement, Waste Management became Cranberry’s designated hauler of residential garbage, yard waste, and recycling. Now, as the third five-year contract period approaches, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors will be asked on April 1 to ratify a new five-year agreement, once again with Vogel, the apparent low bidder. Township staff has recommended acceptance of Vogel’s bid. The contract also contains a Township option to extend the agreement by an additional five years starting in 2019, should it choose to do so. As part of the company’s agreement, new trucks fueled by compressed natural gas would be acquired for use in the Township.
