Want to pay your property tax at the last minute? Charge it. Want extra points, miles, rebates or other credit card incentives for paying your property tax? Charge it. At its June 29 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors resolved that the Township’s real estate tax collector could accept credit cards for tax payments. There’s a catch, however: the card holder will need to pay the finance company’s 2.5% fee associated with the use of their card. So, for example, a tax bill of $1,000 would entail a $25 fee. Still, if a payment were made at the conclusion of the interval allowing payments at face value, it would be cheaper than the 10% penalty which would otherwise apply.
