The official opening of Rotary Dog Park in Cranberry Township’s Community Park will take place on Wednesday, August 20 at 6:30 PM. Following a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting, owners will be allowed to let their dogs run off-leash in either the large dog or small dog areas of park.
Construction of the new park, which is situated on property adjacent to Community Park that Cranberry acquired in 2005, was given a major boost by the Cranberry Rotary Club which pledged $45,000 to the park’s development and maintenance.
The dog park is divided into four sections – two each for large and small dogs. The remaining two will be rotated into service as active play areas while the two previously active areas recover from wear and tear. Parking is available immediately adjacent to the new facility so that dog owners can bring their pets in and out of the park without having to walk them through Community Park’s child play areas. A double-gate system allows dogs to enter the compound without letting others out.
Although the dog park is not supervised, rules regarding clean-up and allowable pet behavior have been posted.
