Tuesday, August 14 at 6:00 PM Kristen Lane, a certified Health Coach and Yoga Instructor, will be here to demonstrate mindfulness painting. Mindfulness painting engages all the senses. The purpose of mindfulness painting is not to create a work of art;
rather, to allow the rhythmic movement of the brush to serve as a moving meditation. The lights are low, we play soft meditation music and aroma-therapeutic oils are diffused. We begin the session with some breath work for relaxation, and follow with seated stretching and a guided visualization. The class is a safe place where there is no judgment and no expectation.
Participants receive a blank canvas and a choice of colorful paints, are invited to allow themselves to be attracted to colors that resonate. During the process of mindfulness painting, the brush guides the mind, rather than vice versa. This removes all sense of obligation and replaces it with intuitive, flowing motion.
