Cranberry’s zoning ordinance regulates the size of commercial signs. But until now, it had not done so proportionately. As a result, both a 15,000 square foot building and a 100,000 structure qualified for the same 50 square foot free-standing or 200 square foot building-mounted sign size. At their March 6 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors voted to adopt a revision to the ordinance regulating one- and two-tenant office building signage. The new rules would better match the scale of signs on non-retail commercial buildings with the scale of the structures they attach to, in much the same way as the Township’s recently revised retail sign requirements changed the formula for stores. Under the revised rules, an 80,000 square foot building housing two commercial tenants would be able to mount two 300 square foot signs; a 50,000 square foot building could have 500, and so on.
