Work has begun to repair the surface of Community Park’s tennis courts and to add a fifth court immediately to the west of the four current ones in an area formerly used as a gravel-surfaced parking lot. To create additional space, the courts’ internal lighting system will be replaced with perimeter light stands. No play will be available in any of the courts until work is complete. All courts are expected to be open and available for play next spring. The work follows the Board of Supervisors’ September 4 approval of the renovation using proceeds from the June sale of a narrow strip of land that abuts Cranberry’s Community Park, together with rent for the use of its tennis courts from Seneca Valley High School out of funds collected from a delinquent contractor.
