Cloud-based storage may be all the rage, but for its most critical applications, as well as for its financial, legal, and personnel information, Cranberry retains custody of its own data. At its October 30 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to consider replacing the Township’s current 2008 storage network with a new and higher-performance configuration. Data housed in a new Hewlett-Packard HP3 Par Storage System, costing just under $200,000, would be backed up along municipally-owned fiber optic lines linking the Township’s administration building with its public works operation center. The Board will be asked to consider approving purchase of the new storage area network at its November 6 meeting.
