For the first time in nearly 15 years, Cranberry has a Police Chief. In 1999, the position of Chief had been eliminated as part of a reorganization of the Township’s emergency services, which were put under supervision of what was then a newly created post of Public Safety Director. The Director’s position remains in place, but in 2014, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to a series of structural changes in the police department reflecting its increased responsibilities and growing complexity. Lt. Kevin Meyer, a 19-year veteran of Cranberry Township’s police department and a graduate of the FBI Academy, was officially appointed to the reinstated position of Police Chief at a meeting of Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors on January 29.
