XTO Energy – a subsidiary of ExxonMobil – already has four operations in Pennsylvania. But until now, the headquarters for its Appalachian Division, which covers portions of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has been housed in several different Marshall Township locations. The company is the nation’s largest holder of natural gas reserves; extracting gas from shale and other tight formations is its principal business. To consolidate its local workforce into a single Thorn Hill Industrial Park location, the company has requested permission to expand the building’s current parking lot at 190 Thorn Hill Road by 53 spaces. At its February 5 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to approve the company’s application for land development related to the parking lot.
