[ARCHIVED] Sewer main to be checked, cleaned and lined

Wastewater from Cranberry drains into a succession of increasingly-larger pipelines on its way to the Brush Creek treatment plant. The final and largest of those pipelines is called Interceptor One. It runs along the Brush Creek stream bed. Several years ago, a parallel line, now known as The New Interceptor One, was completed. That allowed segments of the older line to be temporarily taken out of service for repairs. At its February 4 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved a $292,000 contract to have the old Interceptor One evaluated and monitored with selected segments to be cleaned and slip lined. The Board also heard a presentation from Sewer & Water Field Operations Manager Joe Leavens concerning the Township’s ongoing efforts to maintain the sanitary system and keep storm water and ground water out of its sewer lines.
