Cracker Barrel, the homestyle restaurant and country store chain with a near cult-like following, has its eye on the 5.86 acre Longtree Way site of the former Echo restaurant. The older restaurant building will be demolished, according to the developer’s land development application, and replaced by a 102-room Element Hotel with the Cracker Barrel restaurant in front, facing Rt. 228. The combined projects will include streetscape enhancements along one side of adjacent Longtree Way and connections to pedestrian walkways in and around Cranberry Woods. At its November 17 meeting, Supervisors approved the project’s land development and conditional use applications.
