Local residents are eligible to guard against unwanted door-to-door sales calls.
Cranberry has imposed limits on door-to-door sales solicitors for many years including the requirement that they be licensed by the Township police department, that they display their license when making calls, and that they limit their solicitations to certain defined hours.
Starting this fall, Cranberry is extending those protections to residents as well as to licensed solicitors by maintaining a Do Not Knock registry. Residents who sign up for it are put on a list, which is updated at the beginning of each week and distributed to licensed solicitors. It directs them not to approach the addresses on that list or risk having their license revoked and face possible trespassing charges. Starting December 31, 2018, a complete new list will be generated each year.
