The Board of Supervisors has pledged continued support for an award-winning regional effort to address flooding issues.
During the January 2 meeting, the Board affirmed its support of the Southwest Butler County Stormwater Planning Group. Formed in 2019 at the behest of the Butler County Commission, the Group consists of 10 municipalities, including Adams, Cranberry, Forward, Jackson, Lancaster, and Penn townships and Evans City, Harmony, Seven Fields, and Zelienople boroughs.
The Group is working to develop a comprehensive stormwater management plan that identifies improvements and mitigation efforts. Thus far, it includes 22 projects with financial planning ongoing.
The Group earned the 2023 Governor’s Excellence in Local Government Award for the collaboration.
