[ARCHIVED] Board may drop conditions for permitting certain business uses

Companies that seek occupancy permits for indoor businesses which are considered either recreational or instructional in nature may get off the ground more quickly in Cranberry if its Board of Supervisors adopts a revision to the Township’s zoning ordinance. At the Board’s August 29 meeting, a proposal to separate those types of uses from others classified as “commercial and private recreation” was approved for final consideration at its September 5 meeting. The change would define indoor recreation and instructional facilities to be uses by right in all of the Township’s commercial zoning districts. That would hasten the permitting process for businesses such as dance studios and martial arts schools by eliminating the lengthy and expensive process involved in determining whether special conditions need to be met in order to mitigate the company’s impacts on neighboring properties.
