Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company President Bruce Hezlep announced at the December 11 meeting of Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors that he would be stepping down from his post with the fire company at the end of the year to assume his role as an elected Township Supervisor starting in January. Ed Hestin, who was recently elected Company Vice President, will step into the role of Company President for the remaining year of Hezlep’s term. During their annual presentation to the Board of Supervisors, Hezlep and Fire Chief Brian Kovach also reported on how the company’s technology strategy was enhancing the organization’s records management, its communications with firefighters, and its communication with external ‘customers.’ Average response times, as a result, fell to less than nine minutes. Company membership grew during the year to 130 individuals including Ladies Auxiliary and inactive Life Members, as well as 57 active firefighters and 10 fire police, the newest of whom, John Howley, was sworn in at the December 11 meeting.
