Teresa Hensley of the Alcoa Foundation presented the Township with a $20,000 check at the December 11 meeting of Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors. The gift will cover most of the expenses associated with installing bicycle racks at 14 different municipal locations. An application for support of the project had been submitted to the Foundation in May. Notification of the award was given in October. Township Public Works personnel will install the racks in each of Cranberry’s three major parks as well as at the front entrance to its Municipal Center Building and its Skatepark. The Township expects to begin installing the racks by the end of March, weather permitting. The Butler County Convention and Tourism Bureau is contributing $1,500 to the project; the Township will cover the remaining cost. Alcoa’s Kwaneer Division owns and operates the business unit in Cranberry formerly known as Traco. For more information, contact Community Planner Joe Shafer at joe.shafer@cranberrytownship.org.
