Daniel Hahn, a career police officer with 24 years of service in Cranberry’s Police Department, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors at its meeting on January 6. Hahn, whose work focused on traffic-related specialties and on serving as head of the Township’s traffic division starting in 2001, suffered serious injuries resulting from a 22-foot fall during the apprehension of a suspect after a 20-mile high-speed chase on Valentine’s Day, 2011. Following extensive rehabilitation therapy, Hahn returned to work part-time with the police department in 2013, performing traffic accident analysis. But his recovery was not sufficient to resume normal police duties, and he had previously announced plans to retire from the force at the end of January. Hahn’s promotion from Corporal to Sergeant had been recommended to the Board by Cranberry’s Township Manager and Director of Public Safety.
