Two summer hires in Public Works’ Industrial Pretreatment program are traveling throughout Cranberry, collecting data from some of the Township’s 5,151 sanitary sewer manholes this summer. The data and the measurements they collect will be used by several Township departments. Information Technology’s Geographic Information System staff will use them to update Cranberry’s sanitary sewer maps. Cranberry‘s Public Works Sewer & Water division will use them to help prioritize sewer repair work. And Cranberry's Industrial Pretreatment unit will use the data both to locate problem discharges and provide helpful information for their Inflow and Infiltration program. The quality of the data the two men collect from locations throughout Cranberry is paramount. But their study pattern allows them to skip certain manholes. So if you see them bypassing a few, don’t worry; those will be surveyed at a later date by Township Sewer & Water field crews.
