Things are really picking up for Cranberry’s highly regarded Adopt-a-Roadway program, patterned after PennDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway model. The volunteer program, which focuses on 22 Township-owned collector roads and roadway segments, has been in place since 1997. At its July 31 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors was updated on the program which has at one time or another has involved 51 different groups of local residents, companies, church groups and nonprofit organizations. Today, after 16 years, 9 of the 23 original groups participating in the program are still active, collecting debris at least twice a year and there is a waiting list of organizations eager to participate, according to Public Works Director Jason Dailey who briefed the Board.
