A revision to Phase One of the Master Plan for the Village of Cranberry Woods – the 57-acre property at the southwest corner of Franklin Road and Rt. 228 – will include a new 116 room hotel and a 7,000 square foot restaurant, in addition to the Hilton Garden Inn already on the site. The remaining phases of the project, which were sold by Creative Real Estate to a different developer, the Madison Group, will see significant changes from the project’s original vision, which had included the UPMC/Penguins facility now under construction as part of Cranberry Springs, a mile away. At the applicant’s request, public testimony on the project’s Conditional Use request, which has been postponed pending an engineering report on the integrity of the site’s retaining wall, will be heard at the Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agenda preparation meeting on October 29 with final action expected November 7.
