[ARCHIVED] People are looking down on Cranberry

A composite image made from high-altitude photos taken during a May 2014 flyover of the Township and viewed through Cranberry’s web-enabled Property Finder, shows new road and building construction which is absent from Google, Bing, and Butler County’s online maps – all of which are built on photos at least several years out of date. The new image replaces an aerial montage taken in 2011. In addition to showing a greener canopy of foliage, the new photo includes such recently built projects as North Catholic High School, ramps linking I-79 to Rt. 228, the UPMC-Penguin’s training facility, multiple new residential developments, and numerous road segments either modified or completed during the past three years.
Property Finder, which is linked from the bottom of the home page on Cranberry Township’s website, is an interactive feature which allows users to search the entire community in a variety of ways and zoom in on just those parts they want to learn more about. Different layers of information can be selected to display water lines, fire hydrants, sewer lines, street names, housing plan boundaries, and more. In addition, every individual property is identified in multiple ways including its ownership, street address, current use, acreage, zoning, garbage day, and whether water or sewer service are available.
