Cranberry’s police department is currently staffed by full-time officers. That is unlikely to change in the near future because the department is already below its authorized level of 28 full-time police officers, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors heard at its October 30 meeting.
In the future, however, the Township may choose to consider hiring part-time officers, as many other local communities have done. To enable that to happen, Cranberry’s police hiring procedures will need to be updated with the creation of dual eligibility lists – one for full-time candidates, another for part-time applicants. The Board will consider adopting the procedural change at its November 6 meeting. For more information, contact Public Safety Director Jeff Schueler at jeff.schueler@cranberrytownship.org.
