[ARCHIVED] Marshall Heights cul-de-sac to be widened

Ten years ago, when the Marshall Heights plan of homes was built, Seneca Valley school buses carried 66 passengers. Today, they seat 84 and have significantly longer wheelbases. As a result, turning the buses around in tight quarters requires a wider swath of pavement – one that exceeds the dimensions of many cul-de-sacs previously served by the school district. In response, the Marshall Heights neighborhood homeowners association has partnered with the Township and the school district to extend the turning radius of the Maureen Drive roadway and restore school bus service.

At their meeting on October 30, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved the three-way agreement through which the homeowners association would buy materials, Township Public Works crews would install them, and Seneca Valley would commit to providing bus transportation for residents living on the cul-de-sac. Maureen Drive is one of more than 270 cul-de-sac roads in the Township. For more information, contact Engineering Director Jason Kratsas at Jason.kratsas@cranberrytownship.org.
