For months, the Village at Cranberry Woods, a project of Cranberry-based Creative Real Estate Development Company at the corner of Franklin Road and Rt. 228, has requested that Township testimony on conditional use approval of its revised Phase One master plan be deferred pending the outcome of an engineering study concerning the retaining wall that terraces the site. The revision includes, in addition to the Hilton Garden Inn already on site, a second 116-room hotel and a 7,000 square foot restaurant, as well as minor parking modifications. But postponement also meant that the new owners of the remaining portions of the Village site have been unable to advance their own master plan. To break the impasse, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors closed public hearing on the plan at its November 19 meeting following testimony by its attorney and technical consultants, agreeing to consider approving it on December 4 with a provision that the developer would need to resolve any issues related to the retaining wall which are identified by the engineering study and confirmed by Township engineers. That action will free the new owners to present their own plans for a multi-phased development of the remaining portions of the site.
