Until this fall, Cranberry’s Code of ordinances required property owners to remove any snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property along public roads within 24 hours. That interval is about to be extended. At its November 19 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors heard revisions to the Code’s sidewalk maintenance responsibilities proposed by Township staff. They include extending the time that owners have to clear snow and ice from sidewalks from 24 to 48 hours following the conclusion of a snowfall, in response to requests from the business community. At their meeting, the Board adopted a motion to authorize advertising the Code amendment which would extend the time allowed for compliance with its snow removal provisions. The Board will consider final action on the amendment at its December 11 meeting.
