A lease request from Crown Castle NG to permit the installation of its first cellular distributed antenna system unit on public property in Cranberry, was approved by the Township’s Board of Supervisors at its December 4 meeting. The small cone-shaped unit, which will be installed on top of a parking lot light pole in North Boundary Park, will use an existing conduit onto North Boundary Road to connect with its fiber optic network. Its purpose is to boost signals for wireless phone subscribers. The lease with the company includes an initial lump sum payment to the Township of $15,000 and annual payments of $975 thereafter. The company’s installation plans follow the Board’s recent enactment of Code revisions concerning installation of Distributed Antenna System technology in the Township.
