Kiddie Academy, a national childcare franchise, may soon have a new facility in Cranberry. The local franchise holder has applied for land development and conditional use approval from the Township Board of Supervisors to build a new daycare center on a 4-acre lot, abutting I-79, at the corner of North Boundary and Marshall Road. The single-story, 10,500 square foot brick and masonry building would be essentially identical to one on Swinderman Road in Wexford, which is owned by the same applicant, who is also a Cranberry resident. The design of the building, whose position would provide a transition between Marshall Road’s commercial and residential areas, is consistent with the neighborhood’s look and feel. Although no immediate intersection upgrade is planned for the location, the applicant was asked to cede additional right of way to the Township for possible future improvements. The Board will consider final action on the application at its December 11 meeting.
