Until this fall, Cranberry’s Code of ordinances required property owners to remove any snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property along public roads within 24 hours. That interval has now been extended. At its December 11 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved previously announced revisions to the Code’s sidewalk maintenance responsibilities. They include extending the time that owners have to clear sidewalk snow and ice from 24 to 48 hours after the end of a snowfall – a change which was initiated in response to requests from members of the local business community. Other provisions include keeping sidewalks free of weeds, hedges, or similar obstructions as well as the general care, maintenance, and replacement of sidewalks as needed.
