Last fall, Cranberry and Upper St. Clair – both upscale suburban communities – exchanged Public Works Directors for a day. The idea was for each road crew to benefit from the other’s experience in winter road maintenance by having their director coach the other community’s operating personnel on the fine points of clearing ice and snow. It was a huge success. Now the concept is being expanded into other areas of Township operation, starting with Human Resources, where a consultant is being shared to update the compensation practices of both municipalities. Other collaborations may follow.
