[ARCHIVED] Slow-down campaign begins June 5

Colorful yard signs, speed trailers, and traffic counters are about to go up for a week in 24 Cranberry Township neighborhoods starting June 5, along with increased police patrols, as part of the Township’s Slow-Down driving campaign. Now in its fifth year, the Drive 25 campaign, with strong support from neighborhood homeowner associations, is intended to raise driver attentiveness of the need for increased vigilance and speed moderation.

Sponsorships are increasing for the program and special thanks are extended to First National Bank, Cranberry Property Management, UPS, Windows R US-North and the Cranberry Township Community Chest, and the 24 participating neighborhood HOAs.

Additional HOAs are welcome to join the effort by contacting Duane McKee by May 10, to ensure a sufficient number of signs are available.

Before and after speed study data, gathered from the radar speed signs will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign.

A second slow-down campaign is scheduled to take place during the first week of school in August. For more information, contact Assistant Township Manager Duane McKee at
