The video portion of the telecommunication services provided locally by Consolidated Communications is transmitted over cables which cross Township rights of way. An earlier franchise agreement allowing the company to make use of that public resource, expires July 7. During a public hearing held at the Board of Supervisors’ June 4 meeting, Product Manager Brett Bennett of Consolidated presented the company’s plans for continuing to serve Township residents and businesses under a renewed 8-year agreement. Consolidated serves approximately half the area of Cranberry. At its June 23 meeting, Cranberry’s Board approved the franchise renewal. A fee equal to 5% of gross revenues from the company’s video service is paid to the Township. Terms of the agreement are essentially identical to those of the Township’s agreement with Armstrong.
