Customers of Cranberry Township’s sanitary sewer system will face higher rates for the service beginning October 20. At its July 30 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors voted to increase the charge from $7.16 per 1,000 gallons to $7.98 – an increase of 82¢ per thousand. For an average residential customer, using 4,000 gallons a month, the monthly increase would amount to $3.28. That rate increase, together with a $1.48 per 1,000 gallon increase enacted last year, will be used to finance the $49 million Brush Creek wastewater treatment plant upgrade mandated by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.
