The exceptional geographic information system capabilities of Cranberry’s IT department were showcased to the Township’s Board of Supervisors at its August 27 meeting. GIS administrator Doug Cloutier explained how an assortment of Township, state and federal databases including physical assets such as municipal water, sanitary, stormwater, transportation and parks infrastructure, are kept up to date and used in generating more than 200 different print maps and many more online maps every year for purposes of reference, public safety, traffic management and planning. Among the department’s future plans are creating more mobile-friendly web applications for its GIS data. For more information, contact Information and Communications Director, Adam Osterrieder
