[ARCHIVED] Hotel appearance upgrade approved

Woodspring Suites, a Kansas-based extended-stay hotel chain also known as Value Place Hotels, had previously announced its plans to build a simple four-story 122-room hotel on Wisconsin Avenue, behind the Rite Aid pharmacy. Those plans were approved by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors last year. But then the company decided to rebrand itself and take some of its 200 hotel properties upscale. So it presented the Township with an enhanced version, which was also approved. Then, even more recently, they upgraded the building’s design yet again. Following an opportunity to hear public testimony, their newer design – now the chain’s signature top of the line – was approved at the Board’s January 28 meeting. However all of the proposed design changes are essentially cosmetic; the floor plan and guest accommodations remain unchanged. Ground preparation on site is already underway and construction is expected to begin as soon as weather permits. For more information, contact Ron Henshaw, Director, Planning & Development
