Starting in June, employees from Calgary-based Talisman Energy, Inc. will be moving into a nearly-finished single-story building on Pennwood Drive in the Thorn Hill Industrial Park. The entire 54,000 square foot structure, which was developed by downtown Pittsburgh-based Pennsylvania Commercial Real Estate, was leased by the Canadian oil and gas exploration and production company’s US division for use in administering its growing activities involving natural gas from Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale formation. The company is reported to have plans for investing $1 billion in its Pennsylvania operations – most of which are located in state’s northeastern region.
By year’s end, the company’s Cranberry office is projected to house 125 employees, including 35 from its office in upstate New York and another 15 from its corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The company is currently recruiting the remaining 75, including geologists, technicians and legal experts, among others. Ground breaking for a sister flex-office building, Pennwood Commons Two, is expected to take place in June, pending approval by Township Supervisors. Final Board action is scheduled for May 6. The new structure, at 53,476 square feet, will have essentially identical physical characteristics to Pennwood Commons One, the Talisman building.
