Cranberry’s “super block” – now the site of its most intense commercial activity – could soon become a walkable downtown neighborhood. At its February 25 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors gave their authorization to advertise a public hearing on the change, which would allow for multi-family development in the northernmost two parcels of the block by changing their current SU-1 zoning to C-3. The area, bounded by Rt. 19, Freedom Road, Executive Drive and Brandt Drive, is currently home to numerous stores, restaurants and professional offices. The change also visualizes extending Brandt Drive west to Executive Drive. By adding a residential component, the rezoning is intended to keep the Super Block vibrant over the long-term.
