Work underway at the intersection of Freedom Road and Valley Forge Road to relocate utility lines is causing temporary traffic issues. Utility line relocation is the initial phase of the project to add left turn lanes on Freedom in both directions. Columbia Gas, whose service lines need to be moved to accommodate the roadway expansion, is currently boring a channel to relocate their transmission line. As work proceeds, traffic is being restricted to a single lane at times, causing traffic to back up, although every effort is being made to minimize the impact on traffic flow. During those times, a flagger will manually direct traffic in alternate directions and the traffic signal currently at the intersection will be in flash mode. Most of the project’s construction will take place at night without lane restrictions during daylight hours. Work on the utility relocation phase is expected to be complete by April 29.
