[ARCHIVED] Now you can drink in the park – under certain conditions

Residents and visitors renting any of five different shelters in Community and North Boundary parks are now eligible to apply for permits to bring along and consume alcoholic beverages in and near those shelters. At its April 28 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved a modification to a long-standing ordinance which prohibited any use of alcohol in its parks. The permits, which are issued by the Parks & Recreation Department, carry a processing fee of $50 and require the applicant’s agreement to various conditions including a limitation on drinking to within 30-feet of the shelter, prohibition of any glass bottles or glass drinking vessels, observing the permit’s designated times, and accepting responsibility for the behavior of guests. The Department encourages anyone interested to apply for permits 30 days in advance of their event. For more information, contact Pete Geis, Director, Parks & Recreation
