[ARCHIVED] Cochran Collision Center collides with swamp

#1 Cochran’s new body shop, which was to have been built on the site of a former Park Road copper and brass engineering business next to Community Park’s Rotary Amphitheatre, has had a change of plans. Although the project had been approved for construction in February by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors, it ran into trouble with the discovery of wetland on the property – a discovery which prompted a revision of the original plans. A proposed bullpen area immediately to the north of the shop where cars awaiting repair were to have been parked, turned out to be unusable wetland. Consequently, the holding area had to be moved to the eastern side of the site, a change which required new Board action. At its June 30 meeting, the Supervisors gave Conditional Use approval to the company’s revised plans. As a result, the wetland will be protected rather than relocated.
