As a private resident back in 1999, Cathy Cortazzo organized a weekend-long neighborhood softball tournament for local adults to have some fun and raise a few dollars for worthwhile charitable causes. It proved to be a huge success and, for the next 17 years under her direction, it grew to become a Township-wide event, bringing neighborhoods together and raising more than $1.5 million. Tonight, upon her retirement as chair of the event, the Township held a reception for Ms. Cortazzo in the Municipal Center and adopted a resolution thanking her for her leadership and vision in organizing the Cranberry CUP weekend. That event will continue under the guidance of a Board which Ms. Cortazzo was instrumental in forming.
