There’s a lot happening with Cranberry’s Fire Company these days. Implementation of a new strategic plan calling for changes in its organization, staffing, and station facilities is now underway. At its September 28 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors heard a presentation about plans to expand and alter the layout of its Rt. 19 fire station in keeping with the organization's 2016 strategic plan. The changes would add six private rooms and a bunk room for as many as 12 firefighters to remain on call overnight. Other changes would include locker rooms and fitness area as well as additional administrative space. Interior updates to the Haine School fire station are also planned. Authorization of a proposal for architectural services from RSSC Architecture related to the station upgrades will be considered on October 5.
