A new Element Hotel – a boutique hospitality line of the Marriott hotel group – which is being built in tandem with a Cracker Barrel restaurant on the site of the former Echo Restaurant on Longtree Way, has found the space to add two more guest rooms without changing the building’s footprint, bringing the total to 104 rooms in six stories. That change, however, required the Township’s Board of Supervisors to issue a new approval. The consequences of increasing its room count also cascade into the 197-space parking lot it shares with the restaurant as well as the need to expand the room for tractor trailers making deliveries – reducing parking to 194 spaces. However, a new needs analysis presented by the developer showed that the smaller number of spaces would still be adequate. As a result, the Board agreed to approve the application at its October 5 meeting.
