One of the products developed by the International Code Council is its International Property Maintenance Code. It covers a broad range of home and commercial site maintenance issues and suggests requirements that municipalities can adopt to maintain a at least a minimum level of safety and sanitation for both the occupants of a building and the general public. Those requirements affect a building’s structural and weather resistance, safety, sanitation, and appearance for both primary and accessory structures. At its October 26 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to authorize advertising the maintenance Code on November 2 for possible adoption on December 7. Enactment of the Code would give Cranberry the authority to enforce its provisions and to require property owners to remedy hazardous situations on their property.
