[ARCHIVED] Property maintenance code adopted

The International Property Maintenance Code – one of the widely-used model ordinances developed by the International Code Council – has been adopted, with some exceptions, by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors. The Code covers a broad range of home and commercial site maintenance issues that many municipalities have adopted to establish a base level of safety and sanitation. Its requirements affect a building’s structural and weather resistance, safety, sanitation, and appearance for both primary and accessory structures. Its provisions concerning lawn and weed control were deemed inappropriate for the Township and eliminated from the final version. At its December 7 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to adopt the revised maintenance Code. Enactment of the Code gives Cranberry the authority to enforce its provisions, requiring property owners to remedy hazardous situations on their property.
