After several years of study, discussions, negotiations, and
revision, the end is now in sight for final implementation of the FederalEmergency Management Agency’s Flood Hazard Determination Area map. Township Waterworks Coordinator Tim Schutzman
has worked diligently with the agency to make sure the maps accurately reflectcurrent conditions in Cranberry Township. At its February 22 meeting, Schutzman explained how the revisions haveresulted in fewer parts of the Township being included in the official map’s
flood hazard areas. FEMA had previouslydetermined that Cranberry’s ordinance concerning flood plain activity met the
agency’s new requirements. Finalimplementation of the revised official map and ordinance will be August 2.
