Rates for the Township’s sanitary sewer service are about to
go up in response to increasing costs. At its April 5 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved the
revised rate schedule. Charges for theservice are based on each customer’s metered water use plus a monthly minimum
charge that varies with the water meter’s size. For homes served by 5/8-inch supply lines – the most frequent for
residential use – that charge is currently $7.00 plus consumption fees of $8.48per 1,000 gallons. The typical home uses
5,000 gallons of water a month. The newrate, which represents a 50¢ per 1,000-gallon increase as well as a $2 a month
increase in the base rate, goes into effect May 29 and will be reflected in theJune billing cycle. The combined monthly
impact for an average home would be $4.50.
