A new youth competition associated with Cranberry Township Community Days is off to a rocky start. Children 12 or younger are invited to paint small stones with a community theme of their choice. Starting now and continuing through noon, July 6, they can bring their painted rocks, enclosed in clear storage bags, to the Cranberry Library Children's Room during regular library hours, along with a note providing the child’s name and parent contact information. In return, they receive a raffle ticket for each painted rock brought in. One raffle prize winner will be drawn every week (5 total weeks) starting Friday, June 8. The winning numbers in the weekly drawings will be posted on the CTCC website, www.ctcchest.org. Winners will identify themselves at the library's children's department to claim one of the weekly prizes. At its conclusion, library staff will choose the five best rocks. Online and on-site voting for the winner will be open July 6-9. Winner will be announced July 10. The creator of the winning rock will be invited, along with his or her family, to launch the Community Days concluding fireworks, after receiving a private tour of the fireworks staging area.
